NASA Using Light to Combat Insomnia …

Gizmag.com writer Will Shanklin wrote an article discussing how NASA is ready to employ LED lighting in their International Space Station as a means to help astronauts who are experiencing insomnia. Sleep is important and “can cause lower performance, decreased memory, and even sickness.” The article mentions that “half of all astronauts, at some point, take sleep medication” and that “It's a quick fix, but it can cause dependency and inhibit astronauts' ability to wake up suddenly for an emergency.” For example, the lights used in the International Space Station will trick the brain into producing sleep-inducing melatonin at certain times and increasing energy-producing melanopsin at other times.

LifeWave has already discovered the positive use of light in helping to treat insomnia. Just as “NASA's new solution taps into the human brain's response to light cycles”, LifeWave uses “phototherapy” (scientifically proven light therapy) as the method of action for our Silent Nights MD patch, which as you know, is now recognized as a Class 1 Medical Device for the treatment of insomnia in Europe. Specifically, Silent Nights MD is composed of non-toxic organic crystals that when activated by body heat reflect specific wavelengths of light stimulating points on the skin, which in turn produce drug-free sleep! The patch is safe, effective and non-addictive. Being as around 60% of the population suffers from insomnia, our Silent Nights MD patch is one of the least inexpensive and convenient to use sleep aids available today.
